When in Energy Saving Mode 2.0, the Radar Module allows the U1000 dash cam to extend its Parking Surveillance mode duration by reducing the power consumption. When a motion is detected by the Radar Module, the U1000 wakes up and gets ready to record. If an impact is detected, a 20 second video (10 seconds before and 10 seconds after the impact) is saved in a dedicated folder on the MicroSD card. When no impacts are detected, the U1000 does not save the footage and resumes Energy Saving Mode 2.0.

In the event of a crash, the alert feature can help the driver to notify others of an emergency situation when the driver is not in the condition to do so. The family or the owner of the car can then remotely check on the situation from their location. When the car experiences an impact with a g-force level greater than 3g or 4g while driving, the dash cam will automatically send a push notification alert of the impact to the user’s smartphone logged in to the THINKWARE CLOUD app. A 20 second video of the incident (10 seconds before and after the incident) is also saved on the THINKWARE CLOUD server, and a push notification alert of the video is sent to the user, which can be checked later and downloaded from the app.

Geo Fencing allows parents or fleet managers to be updated on vehicles’ comings and goings. I upgraded from an F770 to this unit. While on face value, it does well, it is not as big an “upgrade” as I had hoped and expected. I am left underwhelmed.
Motion detection video remains blurry. I do not get a very clear picture of the person(s) passing my vehicle.
And the WiFi connectivity is much more limited that I had hoped. I had planned to establish WiFi connectivity to my home and work WiFi networks, as well as some around the community, so that the camera could connect to those as the signals are in reach. But the software only allows for one WiFi connection to be stored and can only support WiFi connections whose access protocols are limited to the SSID and password (e.g., those that require a username and password cannot be used). Hopefully future firmware and software updates can correct this.

Still don’t have it hooked up to my iPhone. The installer couldn’t do it but tells me that his other customers are not having any problems. Is there another way with out using the “Hot Spot”?
